There’s no doubt Cameroon’s qualification for the 2022 World Cup will help them in convincing binationals to play for them.

Cameroon football federation has been trying to secure Joel Matip’s return to the team for a while now. The Liverpool Center back lastly featured for Cameroon in 2015.
Coach Rigobert Song who was appointed some months ago reportedly tried to convince the Center Back. His mission wasn’t a success as the player wasn’t named in Cameroon’s squad for their World Cup play offs against Algeria.
According to reports, the player didn’t categorically say NO to Rigobert Song but asked the Coach to give him time.
“The Liverpool defender had not said NO categorically, but rather he had asked Rigobert Song and Samuel Eto’o to give him a “little extra time”, clearly expressing the wish to take part in the world championship if Cameroon was ever qualified. Another source, usually well introduced in Cameroonian football circles, confided that the Joël Matip file could be relaunched in the following days, and most likely, the former Shalke 04 player will mark his return to the den, especially since his father has already given his OK,” wrote 237actu
The return of the Player will be good news to the fans who have fallen out with Michael Ngadeu.
