2021 Afrobasket Women: Cameroon qualify for Semi finals and will play Mali, Nigeria to take on Senegal

Cameroon has qualified for the Womens Afrobasket 2021 semi finals after defeating Egypt.


The lionesses made the semi finals cut alongside 2007 champions Mali, eleven times champions Senegal and defending champions Nigeria. Cameroon will face Mali in the semi finals while Nigeria will take on Senegal in a highly contested encounter.
It won’t be easy for the lionesses as the face a ruthless Mali side who have been scoring points for fun.
Mali are they highest scoring team in the tournament beating Tunisia 101-39, edging Ivory coast 76-63 before going past Angola 74-53 in the Quarter finals. They have averaged 88.5 points per game so far in the tournament. It is worth noting that Mali have finished third in the past two editions of the tournament (2017 and 2019).
Cameroon on the other is making their sixth semi finals appearances and their first since 2015. Only one player in the Cameroon side has a semi finals experience Ramses Longlack who featured in the 2013 and 2015 Semi finals.
22 year old Dulcie Fakam is the face of Cameroon’s resurgence averaging double doubles in three outings. She has also slotted in 11.7 points with 10 rebounds and 1.7 steals.
