Davido is coming and fans are excited to see his comeback with new music.

The singer who has been AWOL from social media and the music world following the loss of his son in October 2022 will be returning to the music scene with his fourth album titled “Timeless“.

This is however not the first time Davido will be making comebacks from his hiatus although they were under different circumstances.

The singer has over the years known how to utilize his absence in cooking up a hit or project that will be satisfactory to fans.

While we await the release of his fourth album, here are five times Davido made a great comeback to the music industry.

“Son Of Mercy” might not be Davido’s best project but it sure came at a moment when the singer’s career was taking off.

In 2016, Davido has penned an international deal with Sony Music and this required him to release a project to solidify his new position.

Finally in October, he released “Son of Mercy“,

A five-track EP with guest appearances from Nasty C, Tinashe and SImi.

The tracks “How Long” and “Gbagbe Oshi” were used to promote the project prior to its official release. Although he appeared in multiple collabs, Davido had not released a single since November 2015 (11 Months) prior to that October.

After the release of “Son Of Mercy,” which he himself referred to as a “bad project,” Davido desperately needed a hit which was made possible thanks to Tekno who produced and composed it.

Davido had once said that this song was his way of getting “back to fundamentals.” Now, ‘If’ is unquestionably an Afrobeats classic. The song heralded the start of a new era for Davido in 2017 which saw him release other hit songs like “Fall”, “Fia” and “Like Dat”.

This follow-up came seven years after the publication of his debut album, “Omo Baba Olowo- The Genesis“.

Prior to the release of “A Good Time”, Davido has found massive international success thanks to “If” and “Fall” which were charting around the world.

Then in 2019, he release the sophomore album which featured artists like Chris Brown, Summer Walker, Gunna, A Boogie wit da Hoodie and others.

A Good Time is largely regarded as Davido’s best album to date and has received high praise from critics.

After a three-month-long social media hiatus in 2020, Davido released “Fem” which was the lead single for his third album – ‘A Better Time’.

“Fem” quickly caught attention as many speculated that it was a diss song at rival, Burna Boy and others. Whether or not it was true, the song was a commercial success as many were hungry for a song from the artist.

The music video received 1 million views in just seven hours, making it the fastest Nigerian music video to do so at the time.

World Cup Performance

Davido was one of three musicians who contributed to the 2022 #FIFAWordCup soundtrack. He performed just before the final game between France and Argentina got underway.

This was his first performance following the untimely death of his son on October 31, 2022.
