Davido: I am deserving of the title of “King of Afrobeats.” (See Why)

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a well-known afrobeats musician who claims to be deserving of the title “King of Afrobeats” that Forbes recently bestowed upon him.

He asserts that the distinction is no mishap since it has forever been his objective for the afrobeats sort to acquire prominence in the Western world.

Davido claimed that he was one of the first musicians in the Afrobeats genre to be signed by a major global record label.

At the point when asked how it feels to be alluded to as the “Ruler of afrobeat” by Forbes in a meeting with Board News, Davido said:

I mean, it is accurate. I have resided in both; I’ve lived in the US. I went to class here as well, in Alabama. I was constantly evangelizing African culture; the food, design.

“In this way, when the time had come to do music, my fantasy was consistently the hybrid; ‘ When will that hybrid occur?’ I was also one of the first to be signed by a major label, as you know.

After taking a break from the music industry due to the tragic death of his beloved son in October 2022, the sensational musician had returned with a whirlwind.

Davido released his Timeless album which has broken several records on various streaming platforms and is still topping charts.

In a recent interview, Davido revealed that the idea behind the album-art is tied to his late son Ifeanyi who loved nature, trees and his best animal was an elephant.

Davido added that Ifeanyi was with him in the studio when he recorded more than half of the songs on the album. He also stated that the bird at the corner represents Ifeanyi himself.

Truly, the art on the album’s cover could be seen carrying these things in remembrance of Ifeanyi.
