Social media users have voiced their disapproval of the Grammy Awards’ organizers, the Recording Academy, for referring to Nigerian afrobeat superstar Wizkid as an “up-and-coming artist.”
Under a post, the organizers of the American award had written Wizkid’s name: Who is a promising Black artist that everyone should pay attention to? via their Instagram Story.
Some Nigerians didn’t like this, especially Wizkid’s fans, who thought it was disrespectful given the singer’s status as
one of the most successful music artists in Africa.
