Nigerian singer and producer Ckay has expressed his gratitude to Davido for his role in helping him attain mainstream success in the music industry.
In a recent interview, Ckay disclosed that the collaboration he had with Davido was very important to him because he needed a co-sign from an established artist, and the latter was more than happy to offer that.
“The collaboration with Davido was extremely important because; I feel like at that time, I needed a co-sign from someone who was very established and Davido was more than happy to do that,” Ckay said.
Ckay further revealed that his friendship with Davido and his team started from the collaboration, and they had built a great relationship since then.
The collaboration which was titled ‘La La’ was part of Davido’s 2020 album, ‘A Better Time’.
“We literally just met through that song and We kind of built a friendship from there.
“Not just with him but his team as well, we all had a great relationship.”
The success of the collaboration and the relationship he built with Davido and his team, according to Ckay, played a pivotal role in his rise to fame in the Nigerian music industry.
He expressed his gratitude to Davido and acknowledged his contribution to his success.
“That definitely played a huge role in my success and I’m always going to acknowledge that.”

Ckay and Davido also collaborated on the track ‘Watawi’ featuring South Africa’s Amapiano chief lyricist and artist, Focalistic and Abidoza.
The song is off Ckay’s debut album ‘Sad Romance’ which was released in 2022
