Samu Omorodion scored one of the fastest goals in La Liga history after finding the back of the net in Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Deportivo Alaves at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Sunday afternoon.

Spanish-born striker, Omorodion has been one of the sensations in the Spanish league this season, with his performance earning him a move to a top-tier side in the last summer transfer window.

Omorodion’s score against La Blaugrana was the fastest goal conceded by the Catalan giants in a home league match in the 21st century, according to Opta.

Who is Samu Omorodion?

Omorodion was born in Melilla, Spain, to Nigerian parents in 2004. He began his career playing for Sevilla’s youth side before moving to Granada in 2021.

The youngster made his La Liga debut against Atletico Madrid this season and scored in his team’s 3-1 loss to Diego Simeone’s side.

The 19-year-old’s performance in the game led to his transfer to the Rojiblancos but he was immediately loaned to Deportivo Alaves for the rest of the season.

Since joining Alaves, Omorodion has scored three goals in 11 games in La Liga this season.

He is eligible to represent the Super Eagles due to his Nigerian parents and the Spanish national team since he was born in Spain.

He has represented La Roja at the youth level, featuring for the under-19 and the under-21 sides.
