What his good form mean for him and the Cameroon National Team

Cameroon play Burundi in their 2023 AFCON Qualifiers final group match on September 12th. It’s a most win match for the Indomitable Lions, who sit second in Group C, level on four points with Burundi, and one point below first placed Namibia. Any result other than a win for the Indomitable Lions will put them at risk of missing out on the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

In their match against Burundi, a win will put them top of the group with seven points and will see them qualify for the AFCON alongside Namibia. A defeat will see them miss out on the AFCON, with Namibia and Burundi qualifying for the tournament. In case of a draw of less than four goals from each team, the Indomitable Lions will still miss out on the tournament in Ivory Coast next year on head to head record. So as things stand, only a win or a draw of four or more goals each against Burundi will see Cameroon qualify for the 2023 AFCON in January next year.

Rigobert Song’s men who have been poor in front of goal lately, having scored only three goals in their group will need all the fire power they can get against Burundi. Njie Clinton’s form might just be what Rigobert Song needs to boost the attack.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man has 10 Goals in 40 Appearances with the Indomitable Lions. His fine run of form has got fans asking head coach Rigobert Song to include him in the squad for the September match, which is expected to be released later this month.

The Sivasspor number 10 is like a player reborn, ready to remind Cameroonians what they have been missing.
