Ajax and Ivorian international Sebastian Haller has equaled Samuel Eto’o’s record in becoming the highest scoring African in the Champions league group stage.
Samuel Eto’o scored 7 goals for Inter Milan in the 2010/2011 Champions league group stage. George Weah’s tally of 6 goals for AC Milan in the 1994/1995 champions league group stage for AC Milan puts him at third position while Mohamed Salah’s tally of 5 goals this season(and also 2017/2018) puts him at the fourth position along side Samuel Eto’o’s fellow Country man Vincent Aboubakar who scored 5 goals for Porto in the 2017/2018 Champions league group stage, Didier Drogba who also recorded five goals in the 2003/2004 and 2006/2007 for Chelsea in the Champions league group stage, the third Ivorian on the list Seydou doumbia who recorded 5 goals for CSKA Moscow in 2011/2012 season, Malian international Moussa Marega who scored 5 goals for Porto in the 2017/2018 Champions league Group stage all occupy the fourth position
