Cameroon to play Nigeria in a freindly encounter next month

Cameroon shall take on Nigeria in a freindly encounter on June 4th in Austria


This comes as a replacement to the FIFA 2022 world cup qualifiers that were suppose to be played this June but was postponed.
Cameroon and Nigeria are amongst the power houses of football in Africa.
Cameroon and Nigeria is arguably the greatest rivalry in African football history
The two teams last me in the 2019 Afcon quarter finals with Nigeria coming from behind to beat Cameroon 3:2.

Overall, Cameroon and Nigeria have met 23 times with Nigeria the most successful in their meetings as they have won 12 times and lost only four of those games, with the rest ending up in draws.

It is worth noting that Cameroon has met Nigeria in 3 Afcon finals and have been victorious in all

Their first official meeting dates back to 1960 in an international friendly with the game ending in a barren draw. Nigeria then tasted identical 3-1 victories in the next two meetings, one a tie at the Nkrumah Cup in 1961 and the following year in an international friendly.
The last time Cameroon defeated Nigeria was in February 2000 in the Afcon finals
