Cameroon’s Afcon 2023 qualifiers group reduced to 3 Countries after Kenya gets suspended by CAF.

Cameroon’s AFCON 2023 group has been reduced to three teams after Kenya were disqualified by the Confederation of African Football for having not resolved their disputes with FIFA.

Cameroon will not partake in the first round of matches for AFCON qualifiers in June as they were scheduled to play Kenya. The Indomitable Lions will now have to wait for the second round of fixtures as they will be playing Burundi.

FIFA suspended because the Government was meddling in football affairs after Kenya following the decision of the Ministry of Sports, through Cabinet Secretary, Ambassador Amina Mohammed, to dissolve the FKF led by Nick-Mwendwa and subsequently install an interim committee.

Kenya will there fore not partake in the qualifiers until their dispute with FIFA is resolved. Their matches during the time of the ban might also be forfeited and all the points given to their opponents during that Period.

Cameroon were drawn alongside Kenya, Burundi and Namibia in group C of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers.

Alongside Kenya, Zimbabwe has also been suspended by CAF.
