From Gawaza in the Far North to Kikaikelaki in the North West to Borongo in the East and down to Afele in the South, Cameroonians joined voices with the fans at Japoma and pushed the Indomitable Lions from the first minute.
DR Congo went ahead through a defensive lapse from a corner, but the Lions’ pressure paid off. Assomo was unstoppable on the left wing and just 5 minutes after the Congolese opener, Yannick Njeng got the equaliser.
The fans at Japoma never stopped chanting and just before halftime, Felix Oukiné would exploit a half chance and fire Cameroon ahead, sending the fans wild.
The scoreline remaind 2-1 at full-time, and the Lions qualify for a first ever semi-final in the CHAN in their historic first ever official outing at Japoma. The Lions now head to Limbe.
This was a Cameroon performance different from every other seen before tonight in the tournament. As it is characteristic of the Indomitable Lions, they always show up when least expected. It was written in the stars!
