Choupo Moting “It’s always an honor to represent the National jersey ”
Choupo Moting “It’s always an honor to represent the National jersey ” said Choupo Moting during their prematch press conference ahead of Algeria clash.
Cameroon face Algeria on Tuesday in the second leg of their World Cup play offs at Mustapha Taker Stadium in Algeria.
Cameroon lost the first leg 0-1 at home in the Japoma stadium.
As things currently stand, Cameroon must win their tie against Algeria in order to have any chance of qualifying.
During the prematch press conference, Eric Maxim Choupo Moting was asked about his decision to retire from the national team some years back and this is what the Bayern Munich striker said
“I’m always happy to play for my country. The past is the past. I live in the present. What happened is no longer in my head. It is always an honor to represent the national jersey. It’s a match that wasn’t easy. The Algeria team has been very defensive and in this kind of match, the difference often comes from stopped kicks. They have a small occasion, I think it was a gift from us. We really gave everything, even if it wasn’t our best game. But we will go to Blida with the ambition to get our qualification,” Choupo-Moting told the press.
Islam Slimani opened the scoring for Algeria just few minutes to half time from a Youssef Belaili set piece.
Captain Vincent Aboubakar was substituted at half time he sustained an injury in the first half.
