Kramaric scores brace as Croatia come from behind to defeat Canada 4-1.
Croatia come from behind to defeat Canada 4-1 thanks to a brace from Kramaric to go top of their 2022 FIFA World Cup group.
The defeat means the North Americans have been eliminated from the tournament after making an appearance for the first time in 36 years.
It didn’t take long for Canada to finally get their first ever goal at the world cup. Buchanan whiped a lovely cross into the penalty area between Lovren and Juranovic, with Davies storming in to meet it. The wing-back rose highest and powered a header past Livakovic to give his side the lead within 120 seconds!
Croatia pulled level six minutes past the half hour mark. A quick bit of passing from Dalic’s side opened up a pocket of space for Perisic on the left corner of the penalty area. He played a smart disguised pass into the box for Kramaric, who dispatched his finish with confidence!
Croatia took the lead eight minutes later 2-1. A lovely incisive run by Juranovic got Croatia up the pitch near Canada’s penalty area, where Miller put in a sliding challenge. The ball bobbled and came back to the attacking full-back, who splitted the legs of the defender with a pass to Livaja. From there, the striker took a touch to set himself before beating Borjan again, for his second goal of the match.
Kramaric got his brace ten minutes past the half hour mark. Perisic again pulled the strings from the left edge of the penalty area, teasing a beautiful cross to the far post for Kramaric. The forward toom a touch to bring himself closer to goal before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Croatia got their fourth four minutes into second half added time. Miller’s mistake as the last man back allowed two Croatia forwards to storm through, with Orsic picking up possession and bursting into the penalty area before squaring it to Majer for the easy finish!
Croatia and Morocco who shock ed Belgium 2-0 earlier today are both tied on four points with Croatia having a +3 goal difference and Morocco +2.
Belgium sit third on 3 points and -1 goal difference while Canada sit fourth on 0 points with a -3 goal difference.
Morocco and Croatia need just a point each to qualify for the knock out stage.
