Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is currently a free agent.

His contract with Barcelona expired today and the six time ballon d’or winner has no club at the moment.

The player has been linked with many clubs in the past summers but a move away from the Camp Nou is likely not possible as there has been talks about him signing a new contract with Barcelona.

With the arrival of his freind and Argentine team mate Sergio Aguero the midfielder is more motivated to stay than before.

Barcelona has already made 3 signings this transfer window with Aguero and Memphis Depay joining them on a free transfer.

This is the first time Messi is not a Barcelona play in over 7500 days.

The renewal of the midfielders contract is also been slowed down by Financial Fair Play as the club is looking to be able to renew the players contract without bridging the rules.
