NEW CEMAC BANK NOTES WILL BE DISTRIBUTED SOON

 

 

The Union of Monetary Ministerial Committee of Central Africa announces that New FCFA bank notes will be put into circulation in the CEMAC zone including Cameroon as from December 15, 2022.

The statement reads:

The Ministerial Committee of the Monetary Union of Central Africa (UMAC), meeting in an extraordinary session on November 07, 2022 by videoconference, decides to:

1- Put into circulation, on December 15, 2022, the banknotes of the new 2020 range whose specimens and the main characteristics were presented

2- Demonetize and Therefore deprive banknotes of the 1992 range from March 1, 2023 of legal tender throughout the territory of the CEMAC Community according to the terms below from March 1 to May 31, 2023, i.e. for a period of 3 months, the banknotes of the 1992 range will be exchangeable at the counters of commercial banks and at the BEAC counters from June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024, i.e. for a period of I year, the banknotes of the 1992 range will be exchanged exclusively at the counters of the BEAC: from June 1, 2024, banknotes from the 1992 range will no longer be exchanged.

3- Gradually withdraw from circulation the banknotes of the 2002 range as they return to the BEAC counters from January 1, 2024.
