For the first time ever, VAR was used in a league match in Cameroon, in a match featuring Tubah United and Bafmeng United.

VAR was used in a North West Regional League match, which is equivalent to Cameroon’s third division, between Tubah United and Bafmeng United.

In the Second Half of the envounter, there was an incident where the Bafmeng United player appeared to have elbowed a Tubah United Player during an aerial duel.

With the referee and the linesman not having spotted the action well, the referee had not option but to go to the screens and check if it’s a red cad offence or not.

After reviewing the action, he decided it was a yellow card, canceling the initial red card he gave the Bafmeng United defender. Bafmeng United went on to win the match 1-0 after a late goal. This is the first time VAR has been used in a league match in Cameroon. It’s worth noting Cameroon hasn’t officially introduced the use of VAR to it’s football.
