Veteran former Cameroon goalkeeper Idriss Carlos Kameni has signed for Andorran club EU Santa Caloma on a free transfer.

The former Espanyol and Malaga goalkeeper joins the club after coming to an end of his contract with Djibouti club Arta Solar.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS after his move, the player stated his ambition and his dream of getting a World Cup call up with Cameroon.

“I have come here with the illusion of a child,” said the veteran goalkeeper of Douala (Cameroon) before completing his first training.

I’ve been training all summer and the previous year I was in Africa playing. So when you talk about Kameni, he is the one who left Malaga, not knowing that I played for a year at Fenerbahçe. It is true that I was standing for two years, although I am well,”

Carlos Kameni World Cup dream

The player represented Cameroon in the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cup’s though he didn’t make a single appearance stated his ambition to impress Rigobert Song and get a third World Cup call up.

“My first goal will be to win the place here, since I am one more player in the squad. I will try to help and from my way of seeing things I will train hard every day to show the coach that I can play every weekend. And then we’ll see if they call me up for the World Cup,”

At 38, he doesn’t see retirement nearby: “I don’t look at age, only God knows what’s going to happen tomorrow. I try to train hard and have a healthy life. If you do, you can get to lengthen.” It is not seen as the media signing of the Andorran first division: “Star signing? I don’t think so. I’m not a star player. I’m just another soccer player. I arrived here with a partner’s car and my backpack as if I were a child.”
