Cameroon’s second goalkeeper Davis Epassy reveals Andre Onana encouraged him and he feels confident to start against Brazil.

Devis Rogers Epassy Mboka is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Saudi Pro League club Abha. Born in France, he represents the Cameroon national team internationally. Epassy made his first international appearance for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on November 28th, 2022 when Cameroon come from behind to draw 3-3 with Serbia in a thrilling encounter.

Why Did Davis Epassy replace Andre Onana ?

In the earlier hours of November 28th, 2022 New broke out on the media that Andre Onana has been removed from the lineup because of security reasons. Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song Bahanag sanctioned him for disciplinary reasons and other reports say Onana challenged Song when Song asked him to use the “traditional style” of play.

In a group, there’s need for good discipline and when you don’t correspond to the criteria, the coach has to take his responsibilities and that’s what was done. For the moment I asked him to stay, it all depends on him.

On the other hand, Andre Onana is still in the camp of the Indomitable Lions in Doha, Qatar. They’re high changes he might return for Cameroon vs Brazil.

Andre Onana spoke to ETv camera saying

The Cameroon Football Federation hereby informs the public that following Mr. Rigobert Song Bahanag’s decision, Head Coach of the Indomitable Lions, the player André Onana has been temporarily suspended from the group for disciplinary reasons.

The Cameroon Football Federation reiterates its full support to the Head Coach and his entire staff as they implement the Federation’s policy aimed at preserving discipline, solidarity, complementarity and cohesion within the national team.
