Davido is one of the most beloved Nigerian singers both at home and abroad. He has garnered global success and recognition with his hit songs and live performances. His remarkable presence, alongside the recognition of his music and hard work, has led to him being given the stature of a celebrity in Nigeria.
One example of the admiration given to Davido was a recent encounter he had with Botswana’s President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, at the Forbes Under 30 summit on April 24th. In a video shared on his Instagram story, the President screamed out Davido’s name in joy and laughed with enthusiasm when he saw him.
The two met for the first time and embraced warmly, like two longtime friends. They then sat side by side at their table to converse, which spoke volumes about the respect that the President had for the singer.
Davido’s music has always been about celebration, happiness and courage, and this was also evident with his concert he held the day before in Lagos, Nigeria. In the show, he sang some of his biggest hits, as well as more recent songs and some fan favourites. His presence and energy that night was further proof that he was loved by many.
