Andre Onana becomes most expensive African Goalkeeper and third most expensive Goalkeeper in history after his record move to Manchester United

Andre Onana is now the most expensive African Goalkeeper in history after his latest move to Manchester United for a €50m fee.

Senegalese Goalkeeper Mendy was the previous holder of the record after he joined Chelsea from Rennes in 2020 for a fee of €24million.

Overall, Andre Onana is now the third most expensive Goalkeeper in history, only behind Kepa Arrizabalaga who left Athletic Club to Chelsea in 2018 for an €80m fee and Alisson Becker who left Roma to Liverpool also in 2018 for a €62.5m fee.

The 27 Year old Cameroonian international becomes only the second Cameroonian to sign for Manchester United. He also becomes the most expensive Cameroonian footballer in history, beating the record set by Eto’o in 2011 after his move to Anzhi Makhachkala from Inter Milan for a fee around €30 million.
