Andre Onana revealed in an exclusive interview with United Inside, the club’s official magazine, that legendary boxer Muhammad Ali is one of his idols because of his mentality.

Onana has shown this season that his mentality is unrivaled after turning around his poor start to the season for Manchester United.

The Red Devils’ number 24 is now tied for the second-most clean sheets in the Premier League this season with 8, only one behind first-placed David Raya. He has also prevented 4.10 goals this season, a figure only surpassed by Wolves’ Jose Sa (4.81) in the league.

 

Speaking to United Inside in an exclusive interview, Andre Onana opened up about his idols and discussed how he respected legendary boxer Muhammad Ali for his values and strength of personality.

 

“It’s his mindset,” said United’s number 24. “It wasn’t something easy. He had to go through many difficulties and only focused on the positive side, the positive aspects. He was very positive, and that’s what I appreciate. You know, no matter what happens in life, I always say the rain can’t last forever; the sun will shine. And yet, the sun will not shine forever; the rain will come. So find a good balance, especially when you’re a footballer.”

 

“When you have a bad day, a better day will come. It’s not when you’re having a bad day that you feel like it’ll never change. It will change, but just because you have a good day doesn’t mean it will last forever. Everything is temporary, and you have to know how to manage that. When you’re in a bad mood, try to find a positive aspect. When you’re in a good mood, do the same. Just enjoy the moment and be happy, surround yourself with the people you love, and always stay positive.”
