Indomitable Lions midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa revealed during an interview with UEFA that he is happy young players look up to him and idolize him in Cameroon.

Anguissa also revealed that he has AS Fortuna, a club in Cameroon’s MTN Elite One, to thank for his career, as they gave him an opportunity which later exposed him to the world.

Read what Zambo Anguissa had to say below:

I am very happy with my current life and what I represent. When you go to Cameroon, Zambo Anguissa is like an idol for young people. It’s huge for me. I dreamed, there were great players who made me dream. Today, it’s me who makes young people dream, and I hope I can continue to inspire them. That’s what’s great about football: you can inspire people, and I hope that’s what I do,” said André-Frank Zambo Anguissa via UEFA.com.

Anguissa also went on to reveal that a certain Mr. Abesolo was the coach who introduced him to AS Fortuna before the club signed him.

“I’m searching for words because I couldn’t talk about my football career without mentioning AS Fortuna. The president, Roger Noah… in a way, it all started with him. I met him through a man who is now deceased, God rest his soul, called Mr. Abesolo, and we must remember this man because he really meant something to me. I have to emphasize how much he meant to me and continues to mean to me.

It was thanks to him that I met coach Roger Noah, the president of AS Fortuna. And if I talk about him, it’s because he insisted that I participate in the G8 tournament, organized by the agent Maxime Nana. I would not have accepted without Mr. Roger Noah. I wasn’t going to do it. It was really a stroke of luck that I went there.

At the time, I was going to try out for the national youth team, and he said, ‘No, don’t go. You need to try out for the G8 tournament.’ The tournament had already started two days ago and lasted three days. So I went there and didn’t perform very well. But eventually, they signed me, and I won the title of the tournament’s best player.

How can I put it… I’m sure my skills played a role, but I think it got everyone interested in me. He does a good job. He fights for many young people and brings in a large number of them. Not many have been lucky enough to have a career like mine, but I know he works very hard and is well respected in his field.
