Indomitable Lions coach Rigobert Song’s 49-man provisional squad for the 2023 AFCON has been revealed.

The list was posted by CAF in their official website alongside the Provisional Squads of other participating nations.

Despite injured and ruled out of the AFCON by his club, Bryan Mbeumo makes the list while long time absentee Didier Lamkel Ze, returns to the list. Fai Collins who is currently without a club, also makes the list.

 

Among the local players selected is 2023 Cameroon Ballon d’Or winner Emmanuel Dikongue Mahop, Dynamo de Douala striker Leonel Ateba, Douala Wielfried Nathan of Victoria United, Patient Wassou of Coton Sport, Warren Zidane Fozing of AS Fortuna, Jean Éric Moursou of Coton Sport and Bamboutos de Mbouda defender Franck Atsama.

The players will start camping in Saudi Arabia from the 27th of December.

The final list of players who will represent Cameroon in the tournament will be revealed in the days ahead. The list will consist of a minimum of 23 players and can contain up to 27 players.

 

Only players whose names are in this provisional squad can be drafted in the final shortlist.
