Speed Darlington, a controversial Nigerian singer, recently said in an interview that he didn’t want to work with top Afrobeats artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido. As per Speed Darlington, he isn’t keen on including these craftsmen since he accepts they are not on a similar level as him.
Speed Darlington expressed concern that Burna Boy, Davido, or Wizkid would claim credit for his success if he collaborated with them. He stated that he would never accept that narrative because he is of the opinion that he was already gaining attention and popularity prior to any potential collaborations with these artists.
While Speed Darlington has chosen not to pursue collaborations with these top Afrobeats artists, it doesn’t diminish the achievements and influence of artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.
The music industry is filled with diverse opinions, personalities, and creative choices. It will be interesting to see how Speed Darlington’s career unfolds and whether his decision to distance himself from collaborations with these artists will impact his trajectory in the industry.
Furthermore, Speed Darlington claimed that Burna Boy, the Grammy Award-winning artist, sampled his slang in order to catch his attention. This statement suggests that Speed Darlington believes his influence and impact have reached even the highest levels of the music industry.
He said; “Burnaboy made a video in the Bathroom to get my attention, they are not on my Level.”
